One Last Shot
02:52
|
|||
It was so easy giving up.
Now I know every detail.
All this time spent on fighting and resistance
Could have been better spent
Walking to the front door.
Should I give it the last of my all,
Or could ambition have already stopped my heart?
For old-time's-sake, I'll give it one last shot.
Now I know this evil plot,
But that's about as far as I had thought ahead.
Now that I am strapped to inevitable end
It seems a lot more far-fetched to save the world.
Should I give it the last of my all,
Or could ambition have already stopped my heart?
For old-time's-sake,
I'll give it one last shot.

Horizons
03:42
|
|||
We just wanted to go out and have a good time,
Now we all have to live with this curse,
And, oh, what a night for it.
Is it too late to apologize?
Is it something I can even make amends for?
I just wanted us to live forever,
But now you've got two inch holes in your neck.
Don't walk too close with me.
It seems some others before were crawling the whole way home,
On to a life that had such rich horizons.
Now you just shake at the light of day;
Is it my fault at all?
Is it something they were made for?
Can I fear my own reflection when I don't have one at all?
But if all of this is true, I'll gladly fall on my own stake.
And you can take my head,
And take all of my limbs,
And send me back to the dust from which I came.
I just wanted us to live forever,
But now you've got two inch holes in your neck.
Don't walk too close with me.
It seems some others before were crawling the whole way home,
On to a life that had such rich horizons.

White Flag
02:30
|
|||
You make me feel like taking the white flag down;
We could carry it to the far side of town
Where there's no bother of the ctiy's lights and sounds.
It could keep us dry from the dew on the ground,
As we pick out constellations that are easily found,
While we talk about things we really know some things about.
I'll give up on giving up
If you want me to tear down these walls for you,
If you won't shut me out.
I've run out of ideas of what I need to say;
Let me know if I should put the flag at half-staff.

All That is to Come
05:25
|

Wake up to the morning
As the new sun falls on your face.
Feel the warmth of the new day touching on your skin.
The world can't hurt you if you don't hurt yourself.
A sea of contentment washes over your feet;
So dig deep your toes in to the sand.
Wake up to the morning
As your life crests the night's retreat.
Beyond the horizon is what I've yet to see for myself.
The world can't hurt you if you don't hurt yourself.
A sea of contentment washes over your feet;
So dig deep your toes in to the sand.
We want to build castles in the sand,
But we are mostly digging graves.
I kind of like the way it feels not knowing tomorrow,
And I won't look back thinking I've left something behind.
The dawn of a new day,
The dawn of a new life,
Everything is ahead if you never look behind you.
Why cry a river when you can love like an ocean?
I kind of like the way it feels not knowing tomorrow,
And I won't look back thinking I've left something behind.
This is the life I choose to lead,
And I won't roll out with the tide.
